About Aerofloat

Aerofloat™ (Australia) Pty Ltd is an Australian owned company which specialises in the treatment of greywater. Its initial focus has been on greywater generated from houseboats.

In 2009 an Australian Standard was developed for the treatment of greywater for vessels travelling on inland waters.  The South Australian Environment Protection Authority (EPA), was the first State to legislate in line with this standard.  The implementation of the legislation has been progressively enforced since 2009.    Aerofloat was formed in 2009 in response to a need for treatment solutions to comply with the discharge requirements of greywater discharged from houseboats.

Although a relatively new business, Aerofloat’s™ Engineers have over 40 years of experience in designing and manufacturing wastewater treatment plants.  Its management and multidiscipline engineers also have many years of experience in research and development and have successfully brought to market many successful wastewater products since the 1970’s.

The Aerofloat™ product uses a unique and innovative version of the well known water treatment process called - Dissolved Air Floatation (or DAF) which works on the principle of flocculating the wastewater, floating the contaminants to the surface and then scraping them off the top.  Unlike traditional DAF systems which use large and expensive mechanical scrapers to remove solids, Aerofloat’s patent-pending technology automatically pushes the pollutants off the top of the treatment tank via a pipeline into the waste holding tank.

The Aerofloat™ product is the first and only product to have undergone and passed the rigorous testing required for product certification in accordance with the Australian Standard AS 4995 – 2009 (Greywater treatment systems for vessels operated on inland waters).  The certification testing involved months of preparation and 12 weeks of rigorous testing, treating 1800L of synthetic greywater every day.

Following the successful development of the Aerofloat products for the houseboat market, Aerofloat has extended its product offering for treatment of small volume industrial wastewaters and greywater treatment and reuse for the residential market.
