Houseboat - Legislation
The Environment Protection Authority’s Code of Practice for vessel and facility management (marine and inland waters) is linked to the Environment Protection (Water Quality) Policy 2003 – forming part of the Environment Protection Act 1993.
Non compliance with an Environment Protection Policy is an offence under the Act.
Legislation prohibiting the discharge of greywater from houseboats and other vessels travelling on inland waters in South Australia has been progressively introduced from 1st January, 2009.
Aerofloat™ is an innovative new product designed specifically to meet these new requirements.
The results of extensive design, testing and refinement, is that over 98% of the total greywater volume is safely discharged with minimal environmental impact, while the remaining 2% of contaminates containing the nutrients, fats, oils, food scraps, household chemicals, soaps, detergents, bacteria and viruses are safely separated and diverted to the black water storage tank. Aerofloat™ technology represents a cost effective and hassle free way for boat owners to comply with legislation and to minimise the environmental impact of their boating activities.
