Aerofloat has developed an exciting new product which will provide effective, reliable and affordable treatment for a variety of industries producing small volumes of industrial wastewater (typical flowrates from 750 litres per hour to 3500 litres per hour. Higher volumes can be treated economically using multiple units).
Aerofloat (Australia) Pty Ltd was established in 2009 and developed the Aerofloat product for the treatment of greywater for the Australian houseboat market. The Aerofloat™ product uses a unique and innovative version of the well-known water treatment process called - dissolved air floatation (or DAF). There are currently four models in production, namely the Aerofloat 200, 350, 450 and 750 models (the names reflecting the average hourly flowrate (L/hr) of the unit).
As a result of the systems’ effective performance and unique design, Aerofloat decided to develop a larger model (3500L/h) for the industrial wastewater and multi-unit residential greywater treatment market. The model 750 can also be used for the same market.
In July 2011, Aerofloat was awarded a Commercialisation Australia grant from the Australian Federal Government to assist with the development, testing and commercialisation of the Aerofloat 3500. The Aerofloat 3500 is due to come off the production line by mid-2012.
There has been significant interest in the 3500 product across North America and also within Australia. The unit can be used for a variety of markets either as a standalone treatment process or in conjunction with other treatment processes. Some applications include:
- - Treatment of waste from high pressure water cleaners. These are often used in the cleaning of large marine craft, mining equipment, trucks etc.
- - Treatment of bilge water from marine vessels
- - Automatic vehicle washing operations
- - Treatment of the first flush collection of rain water runoff from large areas contaminated with solids, oils, fats and greases e.g. Airports, boat slips, mechanical workshops etc
- - Pre-treatment of wastewater prior to discharge to sewers – example industries include: small food processers, pet food manufacturing, fast food outlets, packaging operations, drum cleaning, commercial kitchens and laundries and other small manufacturing facilities
The key product features of the 3500 (compared to traditional wastewater treatment methods) are as follows:
Size: The footprint of the Aerofloat 750 and 3500 is significantly smaller than traditional DAF units or biological treatment systems.
Mechanical Simplicity: the unique, patented scum removal system has enabled Aerofloat to develop a DAF unit without mechanical scrapers and complex equipment. This not only provides a unit that is mechanically simpler to operate but reduces cost of production and ongoing maintenance expenses.
Cost: Aerofloat is manufactured using rotational moulded polyethylene and the design has many features which have been value engineered. These features and the fact that it will be mass produced means that the product can be produced at a significantly lower cost than competing products.
Proven Performance: the Aerofloat core design is the same for all model sizes including the new Model 3500. The technology has been proven not only under rigorous independent certification testing conditions but also as demonstrated by the increase in sales and projected forecasts for all models.
Aerofloat has over 40 years’ experience in the wastewater treatment business. Employees pride themselves on personal technical ability and resulting product performance. If you would like further information about the Aerofloat 3500 please do not hesitate to contact one of our staff members who would be happy to discuss the suitability of your application.
