During July 2013, Aerofloat installed four of its Aerofloat 13 units on the largest inland paddle steamer in the Southern Hemisphere – the Murray Princess. Aerofloat worked closely with the staff of the Murray Princess over a period of 18 months to carefully design, construct and install a sophisticated greywater treatment system for the paddle steamer. The boat caters up to 150 guests and crew at any one time.
With four Aerofloat 13 models installed, the Murray Princess can now process up to 3000L/hr of greywater. Aerofloat engineers were able to draw on their extensive experience in greywater and industrial wastewater treatment to design a total wastewater treatment system for the Murray Princess. The system includes not only the management of Aerofloat units working simultaneously, but also a flow balance system and a pH correction system. The hydraulic balancing and pH correction was necessary to handle variable flows and the caustic chemicals used when cleaning the boat at the end of each cruise. With limited space for such a sophisticated wastewater treatment system, the compact Aerofloat system was the obvious choice.
