Aerofloat was contracted to help with peak holiday loads.

The Ballina Beach Village sewage treatment plant (STP) was built in 2006, however, being such a popular holiday spot, an upgrade was needed to increase the plant capacity.

The Need

The existing STP has an estimated capacity of 150 persons with a peak load of 200 persons. Ballina Beach Village is now receiving up to 500 guests during peak periods, putting strain on the STP.

The Solution

Aerofloat proposed an upgrade of the current facility to include additional treatment capacity with a new 46,000L Aerobic/Anoxic tank.

The Benefit

Ballina Beach Village continues to utilise the existing plant hence minimising upgrade costs. The fast-tracked project ensures Ballina Beach Village STP is operating smoothly for future peak holiday periods.

Background

The previous STP was installed in 2006 with a treatment capacity of short term peak populations of 200 persons. It requires an upgrade.

The existing peak population during the holiday periods is currently exceeding 500 individuals.

Aerofloat’s expertise on STPs gave Ballina Beach Village management the confidence it would receive a carefully considered design to increase capacity and improve the performance of the STP.

The Aerofloat Solution

The Aerofloat solution included a full design of a suitable STP, using existing facilities.

The design includes a new aerobic/anoxic balance tank, modifications to the existing facilities, a new electrical control system with remote monitoring capabilities and other support technology.

Results

The Ballina Beach Village project is scheduled for installation and commissioning before the Easter period 2020.

Aerofloat will publish the performance results when available.
