Known for its quality milk and dairy products, the cooperative needed to ensure adequate room for growth whilst complying with the ever-increasing trade waste demands of the Gold Coast City Council. After extensive analysis, Aerofloat was the recommended company of choice. Aerofloat’s considered design for the project provided an innovative and cost-effective solution.
Aerofloat’s design at Norco consisted of two dissolved air flotation (AeroDAF) 400s to separate out the milk fat and protein, followed by moving bed bio reactors (AeroMBBRs) to degrade the soluble sugars and whey protein and finally the AeroDAF 200 to separate out biological solids produced.
Gold Coast City Council limits were 1500mg/L for COD and 600mg/L for TSS and the Aerofloat system discharged water well below those limits. “The regulations for wastewater are getting tighter and tighter, and as good corporate citizens we need to meet these new standards,” says Allan Box, business development manager, Norco. Following on from the success of the Gold Coast project, Aerofloat was contracted to upgrade Norco’s Raleigh plant in NSW.
