The AeroDAF is still achieving excellent results and ensuring compliant effluent, years on.

When Sunfresh Salads needed a solution for its effluent discharge issues in 2012, it turned to wastewater treatment specialist Aerofloat. The system is still giving great results.

The Need

To install a wastewater treatment system that would meet increasing discharge standards and support continued growth of the business.

The Solution

A world-first dissolved air flotation unit, the AeroDAF, newly out of prototype development at the time, to remove the suspended solids and fats, oils and grease from the wastewater.

The Benefit

A compliant food manufacturer, and the birth of ground breaking technology for the treatment of industrial wastewater.

Adelaide based Sunfresh Salads produces packaged food that can be found on leading supermarket shelves throughout Australia.

The family owned business takes respecting the environment very seriously, especially when it comes to effluent discharge.

So when the company’s wastewater wasn’t up to SA Water’s specifications some years ago, it called on wastewater specialist Aerofloat to find a solution.

Health and safety are integral to Sunfresh Salad’s food preparation principles, and a system that both allowed it to meet SA Water’s effluent standards and contained odours, was a win-win for the company.

The Aerofloat Solution

Aerofloat’s dissolved air flotation unit (AeroDAF) installed at the site was its first commercial version of the system after the research and development and prototype stage.

Today the system continues to produce excellent results.

Sunfresh Salads specifically chose Aerofloat’s system over other products on the market, according to Sunfresh Salads’ HR and Environmental Service Manager, Robert Mika.

“The AeroDAF 100 system was initially built as a prototype from Aerofloat’s new patented design, and we chose it for good reason,” said Mika. “Many other systems that we looked at were open top tanks exposed to the external environment. The Aerofloat system was completely enclosed, which meant there were no odours. Being enclosed also means we have no issues with rodents and there is no visual attraction for birds on site.”

The patented design of the AeroDAF 100 has stood the test of time, continuing to give great results.

The Aerofloat wastewater treatment system continues to remove up to 97% of fats, oils and grease and ensures a compliant effluent discharge.
