Dissolved Air Flotation

Dissolved air flotation techniques are typically used to remove suspended solids (SS) and fats, oils and grease (FOG) from wastewater.

Aerofloat can assist in incorporating new or existing dissolved air flotation equipment or technologies into most of its wastewater treatment processes. The range of equipment options include – DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) products, clarifiers, sedimentation tanks and more. Aerofloat can offer a range of DAF products depending on the hydraulic and solids loadings to be treated including its patented AeroDAF, proprietary AeroCirc DAF, Aero VDAF and the more conventional rectangular DAFs.

Dissolved air flotation techniques are typically used to remove suspended fats and proteins which will in turn remove the associated BOD and COD. However, they not used to remove soluble organics (dissolved sugars and proteins). Depending on the nature of the wastewater, upfront aerated balance tanks can assist in some reduction of the soluble BOD and COD of the wastewater.

Circular Plastics Australia Case Study

Physical chemical separation is a process used in wastewater treatment that combines both physical and chemical treatment methods to remove contaminants from wastewater. It is commonly used in food manufacturing (as well as other industries) to remove suspended solids (SS), fats, oils and grease (FOG) from wastewater.

Aerofloat’s DAF (dissolved air flotation) products fall within the physical chemical separation category.
