HOW AEROFLOAT’S UNIQUE DISSOLVED AIR FLOTATION SYSTEM WORKS

How Dissolved Air Flotation Works

Aerofloat’s patented Dissolved Air Flotation system is a world-first and has been awarded for its innovative design.

Aerofloat’s Dissolved Air Flotation (AeroDAF) offers an effective, affordable and efficient method for treating wastewater across a wide range of industries. The company’s innovative approach to wastewater management underscores its AeroDAF design, ensuring simplified system maintenance compared to other systems on the market. The compact design of the system means it can fit sites where space is at a premium as well as ensuring economical delivery and installation.

The AeroDAF’s unique, patented design makes it a significantly more effective and affordable option for industries than other models on the market. Watch the video to see Aerofloat’s unique approach to Dissolved Air Flotation at work.

Specifications of the AeroDAF

The first step in Aerofloat’s Dissolved Air Flotation method involves coagulated wastewater entering the unique AeroDAF polyethylene tank, which features a 60 degrees conical bottom and conical top.

After entering the tank, wastewater is mixed with dissolved air. These form millions of tiny bubbles that float upwards via Aerofloat’s patented hydraulic float removal system, carrying the dirty particles in the wastewater to the top of the tank.

The particles then form a waste sludge on the top of the tank – this layer is pushed off the top, leaving the clean water to be taken off the bottom.

The unique patented scum removal system and double hopper design of Aerofloat’s AeroDAF unit means it is self-cleaning, removing the need for the mechanical scrapers that standard systems offer. This has enormous economic benefits for businesses, meaning staff can get on with other tasks, and minimises interruptions to core operations.

While Aerofloat’s Dissolved Air Flotation system is more compact, it can still treat significant volumes of water. The product range starts with the AeroDAF 50, treating 3000 litres per hour of wastewater, through to the AeroDAF 800 which treats up to 50,000 litres per hour. The systems are modular and can therefore be scaled and upgraded by adding systems to manage larger wastewater flows as business grows.

Why the AeroDAF is the ideal wastewater solution for business

Aerofloat’s AeroDAF design offers unique advantages that appeal to a variety of industries, including the food and beverage, plastics recycling, paper and ink manufacturing and more.

For smaller businesses, maintaining wastewater is a regulatory requirement, however it can consume significant operator time and therefore affect the bottom line. Maintaining the AeroDAF unit is simple; the self-cleaning design of the AeroDAF means the system can run for significant periods of time without operator cleaning.

Furthermore, the sealed nature of the AeroDAF unit means fewer odours than traditional open-tank DAFs. Having an odour-free workplace means a pleasant and healthier plant environment. The AeroDAF is therefore particularly favoured by the food processing industry, as well as urban-based or small businesses.
